Giant screens in Beijing International Airport displayed a clear animal welfare message to millions of visitors last month: Respect Life, End Cruelty.

The heartfelt message was sent via video advertisements as part of an Animals Asia campaign against animal performance.

Animated images of tigers, elephants and moon bears suffering in circuses were aired for an entire month in one of the busiest places in the world followed by a key message:

The wild is my natural home

Animals are not born to perform

Our joy should not be built on their suffering

Animals Asia founder and CEO, Jill Robinson MBE, said:

"Beijing Airport deserves our thanks for agreeing to help spread the message of mercy toward China's wildlife to millions of people. To have our short films aired in the flagship Terminal 3 of the country's busiest airport is a dream come true and immensely valuable in terms of spreading the message that animal performance is wrong."

Bejing airport is the world's second busiest having serviced nearly 84 million passengers in 2013.

Animals Asia campaigns for an end to animal performance in China where nearly half of the country's zoos continue to host regular animal performances in defiance of a government directive from 2011 outlawing the practice.

In December 2014, the animal welfare organisation reported a major victory as Hangzhou Zoo announced the end of animal performances at their facility following an Animals Asia advertising campaign at Hangzhou Airport.
