A thought for those working through the holidays

We wish every one of our supporters happy holidays – wherever you happen to be in the world.

And if you have a moment, spare a thought for those who won't be spending this year's festive period with their loved ones and family.

At our Vietnam sanctuary, Senior Veterinarian Joost Philippa will be holding the fort on Christmas Day.

Caring for over 100 bears at our Vietnam sanctuary never stops and Christmas Day will be no different.

Joost will supervise the daily activities from setting up enclosures to cleaning dens and preparing medication fruit shakes.

The Christmas carols Joost listens to in the office will be the only evidence of the day's significance in other parts of the world.

Joost said:

"Of course I love being with my family - on any day. But work takes me far away from them, so unfortunately I don't see them as much as I would like, and so every day spent together is special."

"The bears and colleagues are my adopted family in Vietnam, so I don't mind spending Christmas with them at all when I am here."
