Joanne Dunsford
Global Director of Fundraising & Communications
Jo’s passion for animal welfare and social justice led her very quickly and somewhat inevitably into a career in the not-for-profit sector after she completed her degree in English Studies. Her compassionate journey began at twelve when, learning about factory farming one day in class, she instantly turned vegetarian and founded vegetarian and anti-vivisection societies across her school. She has remained passionate about animal welfare ever since. Her further education includes a Diploma in Fundraising and another in Communications, Advertising and Marketing.
Jo joined Animals Asia as UK Director in June 2015 and held several senior roles across the global team before taking up the position of Global Director of Fundraising and Communications in November 2023.
Jo is as passionate about fundraising as she is about animals, bringing with her over 25 years sector experience and a successful record of driving growth in multi-million-pound teams for some of the UK’s biggest charities including the British Heart Foundation, the RNLI and Whizz-Kidz where she was formerly Director of Fundraising. She specialised in Corporate Partnerships during her early career, during which time she ran some of the biggest corporate partnerships in the UK.
Jo lives in Buckinghamshire, England with her husband and Miniature Schnauzer, known affectionately as Barkie Clarkie.
