Teddy Bears Picnic
BearBQ's are always fun but sometimes adults would like to have their little moon bear cubs entertained as well so we thought we would introduce another ready-made event - the Animals Asia Teddy Bear's Picnic!
You can hold your Teddy Bears picnic alongside your BearBQ or have it as a stand-alone event for all the kids in your community. The great thing about this type of event is that you can hold it inside or out so the weather doesn't matter.
Why not suggest a donation to come along to the Picnic (teddy bears get in for free).
Read on for tasty recipes, treats as well as fun and games for big kids and little kids alike. We also have some special recipes for holding your Teddy Bears Picnic which you can download below:
Food
It wouldn’t be a Teddy Bears Picnic without some teddy shaped food so why not buy a bear shaped cookie cutter which will allow you to turn cookies, sandwiches and even pizza into cuddly bears shapes!
Pizza
It may seem time consuming but by making your own pizzas you save money and are able to make them any shape you want.
Quick Pizza recipe
- 3 ½ cups plain flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 ½ oz dried active baking yeast
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 cup warm water
Method
- Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl
- Add the warm water and oil
- Mix till all combined
- Leave to stand for 30 minutes to activate the yeast
- Roll out to ½ inch thick.
- Use cookie cutter to make bear shapes.
- Spread with tomato puree and grated vegan cheese and anything else you fancy!
- Cook in oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes
Sandwiches
The best way to make bear shaped sandwiches is to shape the bread first - that way you will waste less food as you will only be filling the sandwiches according to the shape.
Sandwich fillings
- Hummus and cucumber
- Dairy free cheese and pickle
- Dairy free cream cheese and cucumber
- Peanut butter and jam
Cookies
Cookies are a great treat for a Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
Cookie recipe
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup vegan butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 TBL soy milk (or other non-dairy milk)
Method
- In a bowl mix the sugar, butter, dairy free milk, and vanilla extract.
- Add the flour and baking soda and mix well till all combined.
- Refrigerate for 2 hours
- Heat oven to 350°F. Roll dough out to ½ inch thickness and then use your bear cookie cutter to cut out bear shapes.
- Place on a baking tray with greaseproof paper and cook for 8-10 minutes or until they start to darken around the edges.1. Decorate them yourself or get the kids to do it themselves. Just have on hand some food coloring pens and cut out some fondant icing eyes, mouths and noses!
Fun and Games
- Why not make your little moon bear cubs come in fancy dress as their favourite teddy bear.
- You could also hold a treasure hunt with little surprises hidden around your garden.
- A good old fashioned playground game with a slight twist. ‘What’s the time . . . Mr BEAR’
- Musical bumps! A great game for the kids and even more fun if all your guests are dressed up as their favourite teddy.
