Behold, beautiful Benji bear! This impossibly handsome, huge bear is a Tibetan Brown Bear, with beautiful golden highlights in his thick, glossy, brown coat.
Until their rescue in 2005, Benji lived a miserable life in a deep, dusty pit with his sister Poupouce, in a monastery in Sichuan province, China. Saved by the monks from poachers when they were cubs, they had become too large and dangerous to care for and were handed into the care of Animals Asia.
Thankfully, those days are long behind him and today Benji is a strong, handsome bear, who shares a large enclosure with Poupouce. He is a force of nature as he digs his way to middle-earth or thunderously leaps around the grass, savouring every day of life and freedom.
