It is with great sadness I write that one of our Hong Kong Board members, Bradley Caine, passed away yesterday. Brad was a longtime supporter of Animals Asia, generous sponsor of Gladly, and one of the best friends anyone could wish to have. His warmth and kindness, and terrible sense of humour carried him through many years of fighting cancer and earned him the respect of being the bravest man on the planet.
Please raise a glass, say a prayer, or both, to a man who, despite mercilessly joking about us as crazy animal radicals, took his Board obligations seriously and truly loved what we represented.
Bradley named his rescued bear after hearing a story by UK comedian Billy Connolly who, when he attended Sunday School as a lad, thought that there must be a bear in heaven with bad eyesight, when the school would sing a hymn “Gladly the cross I’d bear”.
Our love and deep condolences to his wife Lou, son Charlie and father Reg.
Rest in peace Bradders, with love from us all, Jill xxx
