What a time we had – Dave (who co-presented with me at the evening shows), Gill, Nicky, Lara, Sue, Elaine and Fiona and our amazing support groups across the country - as our Roadshow swung into action this year.
Eight events in a week – every one different and all memorable in their own way. Thanks and more thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make sure that everything was in place and running like clockwork at every step. Nerves must have been frazzled for weeks or even months before, but no one complained and I’ll never forget the cheery smiles at the start of every event – which remained firmly in place until the end.
Super generous sponsors popped up all over the place to provide venues, auction items and raffle prizes, and tables were heaving with delicious vegetarian food.
Here are a couple of pics with some of our wonderful UK supporters including former China team members, vet nurse Hayley (on the left) and volunteer vet nurse Judy, who gave a brilliant and very moving presentation about their experiences at the sanctuary to their colleagues at the BVNA (British Veterinary Nurses Association). Their presentation was aptly called "Mending Broken Bears" because that's exactly what they did.
Gill and I also caught up with the lovely staff of Direct Hygiene and saw their super new "moon bear van".
And lastly, a photo taken of the stately dining room of Goodwood House - surely the most stunning venue yet for an Animals Asia event and all made possible because of the kindness and generosity of the Duchess of Richmond.
Nicky, bless her heart, did a fabulous write-up which you can read here – and so it only leaves me to say a final “Oliver”-sized thank you (considering that this most gorgeous bear starred in all the shows this year) and that some very grateful animals across Asia have you all to thank for such generous funds raised along the way.
Bear hugs and love to our tireless team and supporters in the UK – loved every single second.
