UK comedian and actor Ricky Gervais has come up trumps for the bears and, just this week, won Britain's popular Absolute Radio competition “Who’s calling Christian?” beating UK opposition leader David Cameron and veteran radio and TV broadcaster and comedian Sir Terry Wogan in the process.
Ricky called the radio station when the show invited celebrities to name their favourite charities, pledging GBP 20,000 to the celeb who saw the greatest number of votes from Absolute Radio’s listeners.
Best known for “The Office”, “Extras” and for writing and starring in a variety of films including his latest “Cemetery Junction” out next month, Ricky has pledged to donate his winnings to a number of animals charities, including GBP 3,000 to our very own Moon Bear appeal.
Ever the comedian Ricky adds: “I really am pleased and glad for the charities – they’ll leave me alone for another year now.”
Thank you Ricky – from laughing three-legged Kevin (on the right) and best friend Sepp all the way from China, and for putting a smile on the faces of people and animals alike.
