In between goo-gooing at the cubs, I took some time to walk around our new double bear house, which will be the centrepiece of our forthcoming official Phase 2 Opening in Vietnam this month.
Operations Manager, Robert, Head of Maintenance/Construction, Duc, and team have been working tirelessly with the contractors getting things there ship-shape and all ready for the bears to move in from their current quarantine and integration areas.
The enclosures are stunning - and none of us can wait to see the bears streaming out into the sunshine, onto the grass, exploring their new home.
One of the most fascinating parts of this new development is our wastewater treatment which Robert was determined would give us water which could not only be used for cleaning, but for drinking too!
And he did it. Just yesterday, I tentatively filled my bottle and drank water that just a few hours before was....erm.....poo. This is a first in Vietnam and we are incredibly proud to be contributing to the environment by recycling our waste effluent and working towards the time when literally nothing goes to waste!
Here, Tuan takes a drink of recycled water while Robert fills his bottle:
