As you know, our bears love to climb and some of the residents of House 1 – Stardust, Starlight and Dilly – have recently launched their own tree-climbing club! Here they are on one of their inaugural climbs (from the top, Stardust, Dilly and Starlight).

Dilly, especially, loves scampering up the branches of the trees in her enclosure, showing so touchingly how these bears can put their terrible pasts behind them and rediscover their natural behaviour.

Most of our bears love honey and Dilly is no exception. She and her friends like nothing more than sniffing out the honey treats we hide for them around their garden as part of their enrichment programme.

But the other day, Dilly had her eye on another prize – honey au naturel! And she found her own little piece of enrichment at the very top of a big tree. Luckily Bear Manager Donata was at hand with her camera when Dilly climbed down with her booty – a perfect honeycomb (pictured here).

Donata also reported seeing a rather annoyed-looking swarm of wasps circling high up in the tree.
