Just a quick note to let you know how deeply touched I am by all your beautiful messages of support. As you can imagine, the past few days have been absolutely devastating for all of us here in Chengdu and just knowing that you are with us in spirit means so, so much. Thank you…
Many of you have asked if there is anything you can do to help – and yes, there is.
Please write a polite letter to Madam Xiong, the head of the Sichuan Forestry Department, thanking her for arranging the rescue of these poor bears and asking her to release more bears into Animals Asia’s care.
You could also ask her to use her influence to help end this terrible industry. I know it’s hard to remain calm at a time like this, but it’s so important that you do – venting your anger could upset the delicate negotiations we have in place and put in jeopardy future rescues.
Madam Xiong (which literally means “Madam Bear” in Chinese) visited the rescue centre yesterday morning and I could see that she was visibly shaken by what she saw, so now is the time to contact her. We find that individual letters have a lot more impact than signatures on a petition, so please, if you have just a few minutes to spare, start writing now!
To make sure your letters get to Madam Xiong.
Thanks so much.
