ENDING THE DOG MEAT TRADE IN VIETNAM

What has Animals Asia done about the dog meat trade in Vietnam so far?

Animals Asia has worked in Vietnam since 1999. We have an excellent working partnership with the Government. Together, we have succeeded in making bear bile farming illegal, and are closing down the trade. We can now start working to make the dog meat trade illegal too. Animals Asia will draw on our years of experience in Vietnam and our excellent working relationships there to support the Government in getting the trade banned.

By working with government, human and animal health experts, and other animal charities, we have already had the trade in dogs between Thailand and Vietnam suspended. Vietnam’s Department of Animal Health also issued a directive to stop the illegal import of dogs. With government backing, Animals Asia is tracking illegal dog traffickers and sharing our information with the Government. We will continue to work in close collaboration with regional governments and local law enforcers to ensure an end to this brutal trade.
