KONGs are better known as dog toys but they’ll even stand up to the teeth and claws of a moon bear.
Rescued from traffickers as a cub seven years ago from a far-flung corner of Vietnam - Angus was destined for a life of cruelty on a bile farm.
Thankfully the trafficker was apprehended and frightened little Angus was handed over to Animals Asia where he has grown up to be an incredibly handsome moon bear.
Living within a community of nearly 150 rescued bears - Angus’s current carefree existence is the complete opposite to his traumatised start to life.
In fact his daily challenges are just as they should be. Winning a bout of friendly wrestling. Finding the best place to lie in the sun (and shade when it gets too warm). Not to mention seeking out the best moon bear chat in the pool on the warmest days.
Beyond that... this KONG won’t easily give up its treat. Inside smells like what must surely be strawberry jam, and although that long moon bear tongue can just about taste it - it’s going to take a little more effort to get it all out.
Animals Asia Vietnam Bear and Vet Team Director Annemarie Weegenaar said:
“All our bears love KONGs. They are a vital part of our enrichment program, stuffed with delicious food like oats, rice mix and dried fruit, they keep the bears busy and challenged for hours - mirroring their foraging in the wild. Huge thanks to KONG Australia who has ensured that every single one of our rescued bears has their very own XXL KONG.”
