We've received a call to rescue these two bears who we believe have been held on a bile farm for at least 15 years. Our rescue team set out from our Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre in the early hours of Tuesday morning to Vĩnh Yên city north of Hanoi.
You can help us heal their trauma and unite them with the 185 bears already lovingly cared for at our Vietnam sanctuary. Please help give them a new life full of kindness in action.
In this time of crisis, we look to those who serve, who step up, who come to our aid and our rescue, healing our wounds, comforting us in our time of suffering.
We look to the nurses on the frontline.
In honour and appreciation of all the medical professionals around the world who are helping us all through this most difficult time, we are naming these two beautiful bears Florence (after Florence Nightingale) and Clara (after Clara Barton the founder of the American Red Cross).
“I have an almost complete disregard of precedent, and a faith in the possibility of something better. It irritates me to be told how things have always been done. I defy the tyranny of precedent. I go for anything new that might improve the past.” - Clara Barton
For while we may be coming to their rescue, to end their years of suffering and nurse them back to health, it is the bears who ultimately heal our hearts, who open our eyes to the beauty of the natural world, and the need to respect and protect the animals with whom we share it.
