While many of the world's biggest brands continue to sell products made of animal skin – fashion company Miomojo has pledged to help, not harm.
From leather belts and shoes, to fur-lined gloves – animal products are ubiquitous in most fashion chains.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
Italian designers Miomojo have been making completely cruelty-free bags and accessories since 2012.
Not one animal has suffered for Miomojo's customers. Instead, Miomojo has pledged to help animals.
Claudia Pievani, Founder of Miomojo said:
"I have always believed companies have a responsibility to make the world a better place. At Miomojo, we are all committed animal lovers who abhor animal cruelty wherever it takes place.
"That's why we've been supporting Animals Asia since we started. Compassionate people all over the world have enabled Animals Asia to end the suffering of hundreds of animals and that is something we dearly want to be part of."
Since 2012, 20 percent of all Miomojo's proceeds have been donated to Animals Asia – money which will help rescue bears from the agony of bear bile farming, take away their pain and look after them for the rest of their lives.
Miomojo's long-term support has also improved the lives of animals suffering in under-resourced zoos in Asia and helped raise awareness of the cruelty inherent in the dog and cat meat industries.
Claudia said:
"For us, it was a never a question of whether we should use animal products to make our bags or not. The idea wasn't even contemplated. The only question was, how good can our products be in terms of style and durability, while being completely cruelty free and with the minimum environmental footprint."
None of Miomojo's products contain leather, fur, angora, feathers, silk or any other animal-derived fabric, in line with their pledge to design beautiful, fashionable and functional products, protecting people, the environment and animals.
Animals Asia Founder and CEO, Jill Robinson MBE said:
"During one of Claudia's visits to the sanctuary, we were lucky enough to be given some Miomojo bags as gifts – and I can tell you everybody absolutely loves them.
"I use mine most days because it's practical, looks good and is still going strong – everything you want in a bag. The quality and style sets an example for other designers to follow and proves this is an industry that no longer needs to inflict animal cruelty. It's simply not necessary. Cruelty-free alternatives are here."
