Primary school students Gao Gao, Chuan Chuan and Xiao Qian, were so moved by Animals Asia’s Dr Dog programme they put everything they had into saying thank you.
The trio of dog and cat lovers spent months making their masterpieces to thank the animals and tell the world: “we love dogs and want you to love them too!”
They drew dozens of pictures of Animals Asia’s registered Dr Dogs, then cut them out and stuck them on a dog and Animals Asia logo backgrounds. Once the finishing touch of a crown of fairy lights was applied, the team felt ready to share their work with the world.
They presented their pieces to Animals Asia’s Cat and Dog Welfare team in Guangzhou, China — the home of awareness-raising programmes, such as Dr Dog and Professor Paws.
The kids were personally thanked by canine therapist, Bozi, who sat down with them to watch Animals Asia’s video “Cat and Dog Welfare Around Us”.
Animals Asia’s programmes, such as Doctor Dog and Professor Paws, have been raising awareness of cat and dog welfare issues on the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong since 1991.
The programmes use animal ambassadors — like Bozi — to spread the message that cats and dogs are our friends, not food.
Through the programmes, Animals Asia’s registered therapy dogs make regular visits to hospitals, disabled centres, schools and elderly homes to bring comfort and love to those in need as well as promote animal welfare.
